At the beginning of his career, in 1986 ,the artist works in Mexico	The artist with Lee Inas caricaturist at Gila-Gila magazine in Kuala Lumpur in 1990.

I do believe that drawing is a very efficient way to communicate, more powerful than writing. I started my carreer having in mind the fact that a drawing is worth a thousand words.

R. Lafontaine publishes a cartoon intitled "Les mésaventures de Phil Antropik". On the photograph he stands with Raymond Levesque, author of the world famous song "Quand les hommes vivront d'amour" 1989	In the city of Audincourt at 'LeFestival de la bande dessinée' in 1992

The famous caricature artist Lat publishes one of his books in Malaisia in 1990. Robert Lafontaine is invited at the event.	At  'Le festival de la caricature de St-Estève' in France. With the english cartoonists Tim Leatherbarrow and Paul Baker.1998.

Solo exhibition at Complexe Desjardins in Montreal in 2001	At 'Le festival de la caricature' in France. .

 

The two artists who have impressed me the most are Rand Holmes and Jean-Paul Ladouceur even if their art is totally different . The first one was an underground cartoonist and gave a unbelievable graphic quality to his drawings. His first oversize cartoons book titled 'Harold Hedd #1' remains, in my mind, as one of the best of all time. Ladouceur, for his part, really impressed me by the quality of his traditional watercolors. He was a man of communication, a workoholic extremely active in our society. His speeches were something to listen to. He gave nothing but the best one can offer! No compromise, no place for mediocrity!

 

With the chinese cartoonist, Reggie Lee in 1990	Lafontaine exhibits his works on a regular basis in 'Les Maisons de la Culture'.On the photograph his solo exhibition was presented in city of Rivière du Loup.

 

Being a caricature artist is a beautifull job because you can do what you love to do in life. It's also a passport to travel because drawing has no language barreer.
